Anything for Free O.J. and Cookies!
Global Resources recently hosted a Blood Drive for the American Red Cross. While donors did receive juice and Keebler cookies after giving blood, we really were there to give, rather than receive, as one donation can save up to three lives.
Per the Red Cross, “There are four types of transfusable products that can be derived from blood: red cells, platelets, plasma and cryoprecipitate. Typically, two or three of these are produced from a pint of donated whole blood – hence each donation can help save up to three lives.” There is a huge need for donations, every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood with more than 44,000 blood donations needed every day. Be aware that “Blood cannot be manufactured – it can only come from generous donors.”
Our intern Taylor manned the welcome desk, greeting donors and distributing the information packets for blood donors and the ‘I donated’ stickers—green for first time donors and red for repeat donors. Approximately 50 employees RSVP’d for Blood Drive appointments, including our senior management team.
Dave Danzig, President of Global Resources, cracks a smile and opens a vein.

Shout out to Marie in HR for promoting the event and collecting RSVPs for the Blood Drive. She was relentless, going from office to office, signing people up on her clipboard. Thanks to the Red Cross nurses who compiled donor information and collected blood—you were outstanding, making it as painless as possible! Thanks to everyone who participated!
