A Perfect Winter Day!
It has been an unusually snowy winter this year in the Midwest with our area receiving more than two feet of snow before the New Year (normally, the snow doesn’t start to fall until after the holiday). We could let it get us down, or we could take it in stride and celebrate how our employee parking lot has turned into a winter wonderland.
Perhaps a slice of life blog? Should we showcase how we clean our cars before driving home?
It’s always good to clean the entire vehicle, so that the snow doesn’t drift off the roof, hood, or …
It’s a Winter Wonderland at Global Resources!
In the season of jingle bells, sleigh rides and snowmen, our office is
decked out with giant snowflakes, strings of lights, and garland galore.

Fireplaces have magically appeared…

A Vest For Varro
Varro sits in front of the K-9 Unit.
Global Resources’ receptionist Penny has rallied her coworkers to the cause of police K-9s who are not supplied with bulletproof vests, as are their human partners, due to budget restrictions. Unfortunately, these vests are expensive, costing an estimated $2,000 to $2,500 each. Director Rich and Marie in Benefits have joined in with Penny to organize a company-wide fundraising effort to assist an adorable puppy, Varro, currently training to become a K-9 for the Wauconda Police Department.

Ready for Flu Season!
One of the perks of working at Global Resources is that the company provides free flu shots for all interested employees.
Employees lined-up for their flu vaccines, available from 10:30am to 12pm,
on two days in late October (no appointment was necessary).
An annual flu vaccine is the “best way to reduce the chances that you will get seasonal flu and spread it to others. When more people get vaccinated against the flu, less flu can spread through that community,” according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Influenza is a serious disease that “can lead to …
Annual Meeting Promoted Sharing of Knowledge and Expertise
Global Resources’ analysts gathered for our annual meeting. It was a true meeting of the minds with numerous workshops and seminars on the common issues facing our clients.
Time to organize the teams for the Analyst Olympic Games.
After all the serious business was finished, it was time for the often hilarious Analyst Olympic Games, our team building exercises where teams of competitors had only one minute to attempt various tasks (think ‘Minute To Win It’ type challenges).
It’s puzzling (and to make it extra tricky,
different images were printed on both sides of the puzzle)…

The Office Looks Spooktacular!
The ladies in Global Resources’ finance department went all out with Halloween decorations. Zombie crossing warnings and crime scene tape, along with spider webs and pumpkins now adorn the office space! It looks down-right haunted!
A jack-o-lantern lights the way!
It appears that we need to be on the watch for nuclear fallout…
Even Edison, our gingerbread man cookie jar/office mascot, wears a Halloween costume!

Teen Parent Connection Baby Shower Went Ducky!
The conference room at Global Resources was taken over by rubber duckies—they floated in punch, sat on cupcakes and generally welcomed guests to our baby shower that collected donations to stock the Parents’ Pantry at the Teen Parent Connection.
The Teen Parent Connection empowers young families by offering resources and teaching positive parenting skills. Parents set goals such as finishing high school, taking job training, or going to college to earn ‘Baby Bucks’ that are then used at the Parents’ Pantry to purchase needed child care supplies such as diapers, wipes, shampoo and bath products, …
Surpassing The Fundraising Goal For ALS!
Global Resources employee Scott shared that his team at the ALS Walk4Life event, held Sunday, September 22nd, surpassed their $8,000.00 goal this year, raising a grand total of $9,964.00. Scott thanked the generosity of his coworkers for contributing $670.00 as team sponsors.
The Walk benefited the Les Turner ALS Foundation, “a leader in research, patient care, and education about Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), better known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, and other motor neuron diseases (MND). The Foundation serves more than 90% of the ALS population in the Chicago area.” The cause is very close to Scott’s heart, since his …
Going Back to School!
Global Resources’ employees rallied with great generosity to fellow co-worker Denise’s ‘School Supply Drive’ to help provide needy children with everything that is required to fill up their backpacks for the first day of school.
Denise picks up the box of donated supplies and offers her thanks on behalf of the school children to her supervisor, Steve, and to everyone at the company for their support!
Items collected included 3-ring binders, calculators, compasses, composition notebooks, crayons, erasers, folders, glue sticks and bottles, graph paper, hand sanitizer, highlighters, Kleenex, loose-leaf paper, lunch boxes, markers, pencil boxes, pencils, pens, rulers and spiral …
Gone Fishing!
Our pond attracts a multitude of wildlife including ducks, geese, and the occasional heron as well as employees hoping to be entertained during their lunch break.
Global Resources employees toss leftover bread to feed the fish.
Welcome to the school of fish!
